A: First, the car cover manufacturer sends a trained pattern designer to measure a vehicle to create a base pattern for the custom cover pattern. The designer will then make a rough pattern and try the cover on the vehicle. Using the rough pattern, the pattern designer will make any necessary changes to ensure a glove-like fit. Your custom cover is then made using computer-controlled equipment for an exact "cut" for every year, make, model and sub-model. Car cover manufacturers use large sheets of fabric in order to keep the number of seams to a minimum. This way, you get a smooth, sleek, contour fit for your car, truck, van or SUV.
A: The great outdoors is very inviting to some people, whereas, it can be very harmful to your vehicle's exterior and interior finish. A vehicle cover helps to maintain your vehicle's precious shine, while keeping it feeling and looking new. Some advantages of using a vehicle cover are keeping harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays from damaging and discoloring your vehicle's interior and exterior, helps prevent dirt and dust from penetrating the vehicle's paint, and the hard to wash cracks and crevices. Covers help maintain the "just washed" look between washes, prevent scratches, dings, and people's prying eyes. Covers will also help keep birds, animals, and small tree debris from leaving their dents and marks on your vehicle's finish. Heck, your parking garage, barn or storage facility can be busy with foot traffic and can also get very dusty as well. Vehicle covers will help keep your investment looking good indoors and out.
A: If you take a drive around the block in your area you are bound to see a neighbor's vehicle with a great fitting cover or possibly a very poor fitting cover. The great fitting cover you see was tailored specifically for his/her vehicle, while the "other" cover might be "second-hand" or is a universal cover not specifically made for the vehicle. Generally, most custom covers have mirror pockets and the cover is cut and sewn to fit your particular model, whereas, universal covers can be sloppy fitting with no mirror pockets. Also, there are many more fabric choices available in the custom fit format. The bottom line is, custom covers protect and fit much better than universal covers.
Universal covers do not offer a precise fit like custom covers, but they are a good value and will do a good job protecting your vehicle. We offer a wide range of sizes that will fit many cars, trucks, and SUVS. Universal covers are available in a few fabric choices and are also good for temporary use or fleet use.
*Helpful note: Custom covers will stay in place much better than universal covers, which will prevent the cover from slipping and sliding on your vehicle's finish.

A: It has become increasingly popular for people to lease their vehicles. A lot of us also like to buy new cars every three to four years. Keep the resale value of your vehicle at top dollar by making a small investment in a cover for your vehicle. When your are ready to sell your vehicle or your lease is up, used car buyers and automotive dealers would love to see your pre-owned or leased vehicle with unsightly scratches, dings and signs of improper care. A cover for your new or leased vehicle will help you get top dollar and/or avoid those hidden dealer costs by protecting the finish from scratches and dings while keeping it looking good. In the event that you decide to purchase your leased vehicle you will be happy that you made the small investment to properly care for your vehicle.
A: Most custom car covers will definitely increase the chances of avoiding unsightly dings, scratches, while pampering your vehicle's finish. If you have a feline that likes to nest on your vehicle while it is parked you might want to check with your local pet store. This might be helpful to spray on your cover to deter that cat, dog, and other animal from making your vehicle and cover a home.
A: A cover will keep your vehicle and its contents safer than those vehicles without a cover. Criminal minds always strive to make their tasks as simple and quick as possible. The visual exposure and time needed to remove a cover will help eliminate your vehicle from being a target. Using a vehicle cover will deter someone from breaking into your vehicle, whether it is to drive off with your vehicle or remove its contents.
A: A large majority of vehicles have removable antennas that can be unscrewed by hand at the base of the antenna. Car cover manufacturers do not add antenna pockets to custom covers because the pocket may actually cause damage to the antenna, especially in high wind situations or excessive fabric weight on thin, fragile antennas. A small percentage of vehicle applications call for antenna pockets sewn onto the cover because the antenna is non-removable and are generally small enough to be covered without being damaged. If you have a pre-nineties vehicle with a non-removable antenna do not be worried.... you will receive an antenna grommet with the cover that can be used on the cover to help reinforce the area where you can slide the antenna through. Or you can place the hole and use your own means to prevent the cover from fraying without the use of the grommet.
A: Cable and lock kits are available to help keep the cover in place, but these also help prevent someone from walking away with your cover. Covercraft custom covers have areas just below the driver's and passenger's door that is reinforced with double ply fabric and grommets are installed for use with tie downs (i.e. cable lock kits and bungee cords). Custom covers have elastic along the bottom of the cover that runs the length of the front and rear bumpers, resembling a bed sheet. The area along the bottom of the cover is tapered, like the bottom of your pants or jeans.
In high wind situations or open areas custom covers with mirror pockets have a benefit when it comes to keeping the cover in place. The pockets act like anchors helping to ensure proper installation, as well as, help to keep the cover in place.
A: For the most part, some vehicles are easier to cover than others; this can depend on your height and the vehicle's height. Do not worry.... after you install the cover a few times you will see it gets easier with practice. You can make it a team effort too, which may save you time. Save the front and rear bumpers for the last step. If the vehicle cover has mirror pockets, generally you want to put the mirrors in their pockets before you move on. Keep in mind, a little time now will save money later.
A: You do not want to drag or pull your cover to remove it. Bring all four sides of the cover to the roof area in two-foot increments. Then refold the cover in two to three foot increments. After you perform this a few times you will develop a good system. By folding the cover properly it will make installation much easier.
**Note- Do not fold the cover on the ground or on a dirty work bench, as you might pickup lose dirt and such, which could damage your vehicle's finish.
A: Storage bags are available and are definitely recommended for storing your new cover. The bag will protect your cover from dirty, dusty, damp areas and will promote safekeeping. Storing the cover in a folded-up fashion (not in a fabric ball) will help expedite installation and will also free up much needed space, whether it be in the trunk or your garage shelf. A little time saved in the proper storage of the cover will save time in the long run.
A: In most cases you will be able to simply rinse off your cover while it is on the vehicle. This makes for quick washing and you can simply leave the cover on the car while it dries. Car covers are a lot like clothing, they need to be cleaned regularly. Your car cover can pick-up a lot of dirt, dust and other gunk, especially if it's an outdoor cover. Washing your car cover is an important part of its care. The best way to wash your cover varies between models, fabrics and styles. Always pay close attention to the included instructions or consult the cover manufacturer's web site.
